My work is a testament to my inner passion for balance. I work with the understanding of spirit and connection. I have always been fascinated with telling my story though the lens. My love for photography started with my grandmother who owned a camera and recorded our family history, she would show the pictures and explain in full detail about each one. These photos now are the only link I have to my ancestral heritage and I understand now the importance of photography.
The subjects I mostly gravitate to deal heavily in folk lore, nature and surrealism, I have always been intrigued with the works of Edward Weston, Phillip Halsman, Duane Michals and Man Ray. I try to twist the concepts of surrealism and spiritualism in a way that explains my inner story.
I’ve studied film, painting and sculpture which have a direct impact on my photography. I look at my subjects more in an artistic way noticing light, shadow, and detail. My current passion for surreal thought, balance and connection to spirit and has changed the way I see the natural world.http://cargocollective.com/alsaulso, https://www.facebook.com/al.saulso, https://www.instagram.com/alsaulso/
