Tara Sellios was born in 1987 in Boston, Massachusetts. Although working in various mediums, Sellios graduated from The Art Institute of Boston in 2010 with a BFA in photography, as well as a minor in art history. Since then, she has participated in several group exhibitions, including ‘Still Life Lives!’ at the Fitchburg Art Museum, ‘Cruel Sea: Law of Fishes’ at the Danforth Art Museum and Exposure 2013: 18th Annual Juried Exhibition at the Photographic Resource Center. ‘Luxuria’, her third solo exhibition, took place at Gallery Kayafas in the spring of 2015, for which she was on the cover of Photograph Magazine. She is a recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council fellowship and has been recognized by the Huffington Post and Art New England as an emerging artist to watch. Known for her large scale works and intense, visceral imagery, Sellios photographs with an 8x10 camera and continues to explore drawing, installation and sculpture.
